What is ABA?
ABA, or Applied Behaviour Analysis, is a therapy approach based on research and evidence. It focuses on understanding behaviour and using positive strategies to help children develop important skills—such as communication, social interaction, and daily living—while decreasing behaviours that may interfere with learning.
At the heart of ABA is building a strong, trusting relationship with your child in a warm, engaging environment. Once this connection is established, therapists gently introduce individualized goals that support growth and independence. Learning happens step by step—and in a way that is enjoyable and motivating for your child.
Who Provides ABA Therapy?
Your child’s ABA services are delivered by a team that includes a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA, Ontario) and Instructor Therapists who work under their supervision.
The RBA will begin by meeting with you to learn about your child and your family’s priorities. They will complete an assessment and create an individualized treatment plan with strategies designed to support your child’s specific goals. Once you approve the plan, the supervised Instructor Therapist carries out the day-to-day therapy sessions.
The RBA remains closely involved throughout the process, regularly overseeing therapy sessions to monitor progress and ensure consistency. They make updates to the plan as needed—whether your child is ready to move on to new goals or requires different approaches to continue progressing.
